Katy Perry is no stranger to jet-black tresses, and has rocked her signature raven-haired look for a while now (after a stint of going blonde a few years back). While we’re certainly used to the “When I’m Gone” hitmaker, 37, with brunette locks, she took this to the next level with her latest hairstyle— shiny, black hair styled into flat waves as seen in her latest Instagram posts.
Perry’s millions of fans seem to love her tousled look, and many think she “resembles” or “looks like” a long-lost Kardashian sister— several of the reality star family members have been seen rocking this style (and the term itself, ‘flat waves’ was coined by Kim K‘s hairstylist, Chris Appleton!)

On Tik Tok and on red carpet, flat waves are all the rage, and a look that Cosmopolitan describes as “messy beach waves but with less volume.” Perry just shared new summery shots from her latest photo shoot with her 164 million Instagram followers (to promote her new shoe collection) and as much as fans loved the shoes, they seemed particularity fascinated with her hair. “Wow your hair looks so gorgeous!” one user wrote as another added that her locks gave a “Kardashian vibe.” Wildly enough, Perry’s go-to hair stylist Jesus Guerrero styled Kylie Jenner‘s hair for the 2022 Met Gala, so fans might be on to something here…

Another user wrote that “black” is definitely Perry’s color when it comes to hair, and as much as we loved her blonde era or that blue wig in the “California Gurls” music video, we’ll always be excited to see Perry’s ultra-dark hue (and hope these flat waves are here to stay—so flattering!)
