Gwyneth Paltrow Opens Up About Her 'Intense Life' In A New Podcast Episode

It's not often that a celebrity whose name is often in the media will open up about what they might be struggling with behind the scenes, especially celebrities like the Shallow Hal actress, who has become a lifestyle guru giving other people tips on how to live a better, healthier life.

However, in a recent episode of her now viral podcast series, "The goop Podcast," Gwyneth decided to put down some of her walls and open up about the current state of her mental health while interviewing journalist and co-founder of Milk Makeup, Zanna Roberts Rassi, who is also passionate about self-care in her work. As the two entrepreneurs began talking about mental health and upholding lifestyles, the mom-of-two stated, "I would like to be more intentional about how I spend my time."

"I think I have a bit of ADD and I can really sort of get pulled in lots of directions," she continued. "I would love to try to not do that so much and feel more grounded throughout the day."

As she carried on with her thoughts, Gwyneth revealed that she's been having a hard time taking in any criticism or bad news these days, noting how something as simple as a negative email is like "a slap in the face."

"I would really like to rewire myself so that medium or bad news doesn't feel so terrible," she noted. "I've lived a very intense life in the public eye for a really, really long time."

Although she's been an actress and notable figure in pop culture for around three decades, the 53-year-old is ready to admit that any backlash she faces from those who watch her content or those who simply share hateful messages about her affects her more than they may think.

As she kept up her conversation with the Milk founder, she noted that dealing with decades of the public's opinions about her had likely done something to her nervous system, and added that her getting older and her hormones changing could have something to do with it, too.

"I think whenever we're at the mercy of people's opinions and all the energy behind the opinions," she said. "I'm very sensitive, as most of us are, so I feel that, and it kind of frays my nervous system. I think also my hormonal phase of life, I have a lot of anxiety for the very first time in my life, which is just a symptom of hormonal changes, I think it's an estrogen dominance thing. It makes you really anxious."

While the podcast host stayed strong during her conversation, she caused some fans to worry about her, as she admitted that the last couple of years have "hit her hard" and that after a night of dealing with "intrusive thoughts," she'll sometimes wake up in the morning and be "filled with dread."

"It's never been who I am," she added.
