Harry Styles is in hot water with fans after the release of new ticket designs for his Together, Together tour. The singer has a 30-night tour stop in Madison Square Garden, and the ticket design under fire is one that features Styles in a yellow car soaring across the New York City skyline. Seems harmless enough, until you take the timing into account: the illustration debuted just two days prior to the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Keep reading for more information.

Harry Styles' Controversial New Ticket Design

On the seventh night of Styles' tour, falling on Wednesday, September 9th, Harry Styles' ticket illustration went viral online—and not for good reason. After concert attendees posted photos of their tickets, social media users were quick to point out the controversial illustration.

The drawing in question shows the New York City skyline at sunset with Styles flying a yellow car across the top. The car leaves behind a colorful jet stream as the car passes over the Empire State Building. While perhaps harmless if released any other week of the year, with the 25th anniversary of the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks just two days later, it wasn't great timing.

Social Media Reactions

Across social media platforms, reactions to Styles' new ticket design were mixed. Some users called the new illustration "insensitive" and "out of touch," while others defended the singer, saying it's a "reach" to connect the drawing to 9/11.

One user on Instagram questioned the timing, writing that the imagery was "a really weird choice" given that the concert tickets were released just days before September 11.

"Harry Styles in a flying car over the NYC skyline days before 9/11… who approved this?" asked another user.

"Yeah someone is losing their job over this," said another.

Others, however, argued that some fans were reading too much into the situation. "This is such a reach," one person wrote. "It's literally just Harry in a flying car."

"Y'all will find just about anything to get mad about," said another.

"People are always looking for something to be offended by," a final fan wrote. "If you don't want your tickets, I'll gladly take them off your hands!"
