Angelina Jolie is the global cover star of L’OFFICIEL’s September 2026 issue, but while the Oscar winner stunned in the accompanying fashion spread, some fans couldn’t stop talking about her blonde hair.
Photographed by Norman Jean Roy, the Maria actress modeled designs from Fendi, Ferragamo and her own Atelier Jolie line for the black-and-white shoot. She wore her hair down for several of the images, putting the contrast between her darker roots and lighter blonde lengths on full display. See the look here.
Although fans were excited to see the mom of six return to the pages of a major fashion magazine, some questioned whether the humanitarian should consider going back to her signature brunette hair, arguing that her current blonde shade isn’t as flattering.

Angelina Jolie Fans Are Divided Over Her Blonde Hair
“I love the intention and stark contrast. I want more from her emotively and to please give up the blonde hair,” one person wrote on Reddit.
“I understand and I'm not discrediting that, I'm in my 40s and a licensed hairstylist. I do not find blonde flattering on Angelina, certainly not this tone, level, or placement of highlights,” another commenter said. “It has nothing to do with what her natural hair is currently growing in as nor her stage of life.”
Another fan looked back at some of Jolie’s earlier hairstyles, writing, “My first introduction to Angelina was her cherubic face and spunky pixie in Hackers, and I even loved her platinum twists in Gone in 60 Seconds. But this current hairstyle and color choice is not in harmony with her, and I think it detracts from her beauty.”
Others defended the 51-year-old and suggested there could be a practical reason behind her lighter hair.
“She may be transitioning a little more smoothly to gray so that stark contrast isn’t there as the other user said. Or dying her hair so often may be annoying as she gets older and she stopped,” one person commented.
“We women of a certain age get blonder to cover the grays ya see,” another added.
Jolie has experimented with blonde shades for roughly three years, first stepping out with lighter caramel and honey tones in June 2023. Since then, she has continued to alter and brighten her hair color.

Angelina Talks About Next Chapter In Her Life
Beyond fashion and beauty, Jolie used her L’OFFICIEL interview to discuss her humanitarian work with refugees, Atelier Jolie and her six children.
With most of her children now adults, the Maleficent star reflected on how her role as a mother has evolved and what she hopes to pursue for herself in this next chapter.
“I really love and am looking forward to more connection and community. I’m not somebody who vacations or shops or things like that. I envision more field work, more travel, and just being out in the world. Get my motorcycle back, get back in a plane. I don’t know. That’s definitely what my kids want!” Jolie said.
“They had Mom when Mom needed to be Mom. Now, they’d like me to call them from Tunisia having just landed a plane to meet with local artists. I agree that would be very nice,” she continued.
