John Goodman Sits Down For A Rare Interview In London
The Righteous Gemstones actor is not one to do a lot of press, typically promoting his latest film or television project on press tours before living a more private life out of the public eye. However, he decided to participate in an intimate interview for one of his favorite restaurants.
One week ago, his interview for Simpson’s in the Strand, a London restaurant located near Covent Garden, in the heart of London’s theatre district, was shared on social media platforms. During his interview, he spoke about how much he loved London, comparing it to one of his favorite cities and one he used to live in, New Orleans. He also boasted about the restaurant’s “incredible” and “friendly” service, and how the last time he went, he had a “delicious” ham dish.
With his slender frame on full display in a light brown jacket and blue shirt, John also briefly touched upon his recent weight loss transformation and how part of it was achieved through quitting alcohol.
“I don’t grill anymore because I don’t drink anymore,” he says at the beginning of his interview. “And that was a good excuse to get drunk and stand in front of something hot.”

Fans React To John's Interview & Weight Loss On Social Media
Because it's not often the Monsters, Inc. icon sits down for interviews like the one he did for The Simpsons, it was rather refreshing for fans of his. Additionally, it gave them the opportunity to admire his weight loss progress.
John reportedly embarked on a weight loss journey and mission to improve his health in the early 2000s, occasionally opening up to the press about his achievements, setbacks, challenges, and more along the way to losing around 200 pounds since then. While speaking to The Guardian in 2012, he spoke about one of the most transformative lifestyle changes he's made, which was stopping drinking.
"It was getting to be too much," he said. "It was 30 years of a disease that was taking its toll on everyone around me, and it had gotten to the point where, every time I did it, it was becoming more and more debilitating. It was life or death. It was time to stop."
Now that he's continued to live a sober lifestyle, as he revealed in his new interview, that combined with eating foods under the Mediterranean diet has him looking better than ever in the eyes of his fans, who hyped him up in Instagram comments.
"I didn't recognize him at first," commented a fan. "But there he is, looking amazing!"
"He looks incredible," added another. "Well done."
