Hugh Jackman‘s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, reportedly reached out directly to his new girlfriend, Sutton Foster, with concerns for his health after learning he had signed on for another Wolverine movie.
The reported text message comes after Furness previously said she was “blindsided” by the breakdown of their 27-year marriage, which came following allegations that Jackman and Foster had an affair while starring in The Music Man on Broadway in 2022. She later described the separation as a “traumatic journey of betrayal.”
According to reports, Furness, who shares two children with the Greatest Showman star, contacted the Younger actress because she was concerned about his health, having seen firsthand the physical toll preparing for the superhero role has taken on him in the past. Foster, however, was reportedly suspicious, and questioned whether Furness had an ulterior motive for reaching out. Keep reading for more details…

Insider Says Deborra-Lee Furness Will 'Always Worry' About Hugh Jackman
Although Furness has publicly spoken about feeling betrayed by the end of her marriage, her reported decision to contact Foster suggests she remains concerned about Jackman's well-being.
"Hugh signing on for another Wolverine movie sent Deb spiraling, since he had vowed never to put his body through that grueling workout and diet regime again," an insider told Woman's Day.
"As the mother of his kids, she'll always worry about his health, and that's why she took the unusual step of reaching out directly to Sutton," they continued, adding: Deb is willing to put some of her resentment aside to help Sutton steer Hugh towards safer choices. It's typical no-nonsense Deb!"
It seems the Deadpool and Wolverine actor may still feel similarly toward his ex-wife, as an insider told Us Weekly last year that he was "heartbroken" by Furness' statement about their divorce, and hoped they could eventually put it past them.
"Hugh loves and respects Deborra-Lee. He will always love her and won't allow it to get ugly," the insider said, in reference to their divorce, adding that he is "hopeful in time they will heal and be friends and resolve any misunderstandings."

Sutton Foster Reportedly Thinks There Could Be An Ulterior Motive
The Bunheads actress is reportedly approaching the messages with caution, and is said to be questioning whether Furness may have another reason for reaching out beyond concern for the Les Misérables alum's health.
"She's very cautious of Deb's messages and worried she's got some ulterior motive," the insider claimed.
"The message itself was polite and seemed sincere, but Sutton's worried this could be the start of something no one wants. It's all about boundaries, and the fear is Deb might be looking for any excuse to hang onto a connection with Hugh."

Deborra-Lee Furness Previously Said She Was 'Blindsided' By Their Split
The reported outreach comes after Furness described the divorce and the affair allegations as a deeply painful experience.
"My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal," she said in a statement. "It's a profound wound that cuts deep. However, I believe in a higher power and that God, the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working for us."
Given how "blindsided" Furness reportedly felt by the end of her marriage, it's perhaps understandable why Foster is said to be questioning her motives. And it doesn't seem like the women will ever be friends judging by what insiders have said in the past, as an insider previously told the Daily Mail that Furness "cannot forgive" Foster ever because she feels she "played a role in the breakdown of her marriage" and "should take accountability for this."
