Donald Trump Reacts To Iranian Death Threats
Trump seems to be aware that he any more popular with Iranians now than he was during his first term. Back in 2020, he ordered a strike that ended up killing Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. Since then, he's received numerous death threats from Iranian people, but he doesn't appear to be phased by this.
"They had leaders, they’re gone. Then they had another set of leaders, they’re gone. Now they have another set of leaders — they may be gone, who knows?" Trump said of the threats against him. "And you know what? I may be gone too. Because I’m their No. 1 target — it’s out all over the place. Because they’re scum."
In the time since the summit, Trump has outlined what he'd like the US to do should Iran succeed in assassinating him. "I've been on their list for a long time," he said. "That's what we're dealing with. The only thing is, I've left instructions—if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they've never seen before."
Trump's remarks come just weeks after he announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran following nearly two weeks of direct military exchanges. While the truce has largely held, it hasn't made anything better between the the US and Iran.
