Kelly Clarkson has recently opened up about the ruling on her divorce and custody battle in which the 39-year-old singer was ordered to pay her estranged husband, Brandon Blackstock, nearly $200,000 a month in spousal support for the foreseeable future. The couple, who split in June 2020, have been going through a rocky divorce and sources close to Clarkson have revealed that the whole ordeal has been understandably difficult on the singer.

A source spoke exclusively to HollywoodLife, saying, “She has been sad, angry, shocked and every emotion one can feel, she has felt it.” The revelation comes after it was announced that Clarkson has been ordered by a Los Angeles County judge to pay nearly $2.4 million a year to her ex with their divorce still not finalized. The source continued, saying, “She never wanted it to get nasty, never wanted it to be a thing that she will have to deal with for a long time, but it is now a part of her everyday life. She thinks it is crazy that she has to spend so much money in support. Her work is keeping her busy and away from it for a period of time in the day but it’s always in the back of her mind and it is clearly upsetting.”

The pair listed the reason behind their split as irreconcilable differences, and were even embroiled in a legal dispute in their early days of their separation as Blackstock's father  sued Clarkson in 2020 over allegations of unpaid commission. Clarkson has since spoken out and refuted these claims, sharing instead that Blackstock and his father were the ones who defrauded her in charging excessive fees while she was under management at their company, Starstruck Entertainment.

The source concluded, “It is a very stressful and emotional time. We are almost certain to get some interesting music from it all.” Clarkson was awarded primary physical custody of the couple’s two children, River Rose and Remington Alexander Blackstock following the split, and the pair have continued to co-parent despite their tumultuous divorce.
