Royal Author Says King Charles Is 'Terrified' Of Prince Harry
Tom Quinn, the author behind books such as Scandals of the Royal Palaces: An Intimate Memoir of Royals Behaving Badly, reportedly told the Mirror about King Charles' "terminally damaged" relationship with Prince Harry, which actually started decades before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior royals in 2020.
Quinn claimed that Prince Harry believed that his father preferred his older brother when they were growing up – not just because he is his heir, but because Prince William seemed to be far more stable and reliable. Prince Harry reportedly felt this way from as far back as his teenage years, according to Quinn.
"Harry's real beef is that he is convinced Charles always preferred William anyway and not just because William is the heir," Quinn explained to the outlet.
"Harry's difficulties when he was a teenager and his increasing volatility as an adult terrified Charles who turned to the far more stable, risk-free William," Quinn continued.
"Charles increasingly saw William as a safe pair of hands and Harry as too emotionally unstable," Quinn added, before going on to say: "Deep down Harry knows this and he deeply resents it."
Prince Harry And Prince William Have Always Been Different
Prince Harry and Prince William have never really had an equal upbringing, despite their mom, the late Princess Diana, reportedly going out of her way to make sure Prince Harry didn't feel like the "spare."
"I think she tried to control it as much as she could," James Patterson told Fox News Digital back in 2022. "I think she was troubled about it," he continued, adding: "That's a standard thing for families. One of the kids who do better in school or become a better athlete seems to be a little more charming and lovable. How do you make the other kids feel that they're just enough? It happens pretty much to all families. And in this case, the stakes are much higher because one is presumably going to be king someday."
Their different lives and expectations were highlighted in Prince Harry's bombshell memoir, Spare, when he wrote about how Prince William resented him for being allowed to keep his facial hair, while he was forced to shave his off when he joined the British army.
