Lady Gaga recently revealed what inspired her latest album, Chromatica. It wasn’t based on any of her accomplishments, but rather, her failed relationships.

In a recent interview with When Beats 1, the 11-time Grammy winner told host Zane Lowe that what got her back into the studio was “The sound, the music, being myself.” Gaga has always spoken candidly about her rocky road to finding love, so this revelation wasn’t too shocking.
Gaga further explained, “How can I take something that’s extremely painful for me and find the one piece of it that’s universally human and help somebody else? And then see what it sounds like.” “Free Woman” one of the songs on Chromatica, illustrates her current views on relationships: “I’m not nothing without a steady hand / I’m not nothing unless I know I can,/ I’m still something if I don’t got a man / I’m a free woman.”
Gaga has returned to her dance/pop roots with Chromatica. “I’m making a dance record again,” she said, “ And this dance floor, it’s mine and I earned it. And all that stuff that I went through, I don’t have to feel pain about it anymore. It can just be a part of me, and I can keep going.” Chromatica is the follow-up to her 2016 album, Joanne. The first single, “Stupid Love,” was released in February, and “Rain on Me,” featuring Ariana Grande dropped last week.
The A Star is Born actress is currently dating Michael Polansky, CEO of Parker Group. They were first spotted together in December 2019 and Gaga made their relationship official via Instagram back in February. Gaga recently declared Polansky the love of her life and they’ve been quarantined together since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S.
