Leonardo DiCaprio‘s performance in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood is being praised, but the actor’s personal life is being scrutinized in the media.
The Oscar winner is currently dating Camila Morrone and fans of the actor aren't digging the age gap between the 44-year-old Titanic star and the 22-year-old model.
The hate started when Morrone shared photos of the late Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart on her Instagram. "A love like this," Morrone captioned the pictures of the actors, who also had a 20-year age gap between them.
"No one thinks it's weird this 44 yr old man only date young women in their 20s. This is why Hollywood is so f*** up with predators and pedophilia. He's old enough to be her father," one comment reads.
"Leo only cares about your body," a second comment claims, while another declares that the model's relationship with DiCaprio will be "over when you're 25."
"You only have a couple more years before he dumps you girl! Collect your bag," a follower wrote.
Morrone responded to the hateful messages in a video message directed to her social media trolls.
"Good morning people and happy Friday," the model said in an Instagram Story video. "I just read some of the comments on my Instagram and...my God, people are so mean and full of anger with people that they know nothing about."
She ended the video on a positive note, urging those who left her upsetting messages and comments to be a little kinder.
"I guess I just hope on this Friday that people learn to live with a little less hatred and place their time and interests elsewhere, because living without hatred feels pretty good," she concluded.
DiCaprio and Morrone have been romantically linked for more than a year now and sources say that it's the real deal.
"It is getting more serious," a source told E! News of their romance in Oct. 2018. "They've been inseparable for the last year and are crazy about one another. They've gotten to know each other's families and they love being together."
