Matthew McConaughey is currently working on publicity for his new book Green Lights, and the actor has started talking politics too.
In recent interviews, the 51-year-old admitted that he thinks “aggressively centrist” political views are what we should aim for.

He also compared this year's election to the one in 2016.
"Many people, I’m sure you saw it, in our industry, when Trump was voted in four years ago, they were in denial that it was real. Some of them were in absolute denial." he said during a podcast interview with Russel Brand.
McConaughey continued, speaking about the Biden's presidential victory, "It looks like Biden’s our guy. Now you’ve got the right that’s in denial, because their side has fake news. And I understand, they’ve been fed fake news. No one knows what the hell to believe, right? So they’re putting down their last bastion of defense."
He also spoke about the dangers of extreme beliefs--on either political party.
"Now, you know, there are extremes on both sides that I think are unfair — that I don’t think are the right place to be. The extreme left and the extreme right completely illegitimize the other side... or they exaggerate that side’s stance into an irrational state that makes no sense," he said during a conversation with Good Morning Britain.
The author continued,"You need liberals. What I don’t think we need is the illiberals, and what I don’t think that some liberals see is that they’re often being cannibalized by the illiberals."
This is not a new stance for the actor; during his earlier conversation with Russel Brand, he told the British comedian: "There are a lot (of people) on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize, and are arrogant towards that other 50 percent."
But most importantly, McConaughey thinks we need to find a way to trust leaders again.
"What leaders do we trust? What media outlets do we trust? There is so much distrust right now, you start distrusting yourself, that leads to some really tough places. We have to find some form of leadership that we can listen to -- agree with it or not -- but trust it," he said.
