'Secret Power Struggle' Between Melania Trump And Natalie Harp
According to Michael Wolff, there's been a "secret power struggle" between Melania and Natalie since the 2024 presidential campaign. "Melania, whose appearances with her husband were carefully negotiated and choreographed, would not show up if Harp was around," Wolff explained. "Since Harp was always around, Melania never was—appearing with her husband only in the last week of the campaign."
Because Melania has taken a very laissez faire approach to First Lady-ship this time around, Wolff believes, part of this power struggle is self-inflicted. "Practically speaking, there is no room for her," he wrote. "She has given up the role of wife."
Wolff continued, writing that Harp's constant presence has definitely "unnerved" some members of his administration. "Harp superseded the White House staff and, as well, his wife and family," he said. "Nobody got between Harp and Trump. And you only got to Trump by going through Harp."
A White House insider added that Donald Trump is doing nothing to stop the media storm surrounding his relationship with his aide: "[Trump] likes the attention and the fact that she is 100% committed and loyal," the source explained. "She doesn't second-guess, doesn't question."
Predictably, Melania isn't too happy about this, and wishes their personal life was kept out of headlines. "The first lady doesn't like theses types of things."
