Melania Trump has certainly built herself a reputation for being a more aloof First Lady, and the proof is in the pudding, after the number of days she’s made official public appearances during her husband’s second term was released.
The current First Lady has maintained a notably low public profile during her second run in the position, and a new report is putting just how rarely she has been seen in the spotlight into perspective. According to an analysis of her public schedule, Melania has made appearances on just 38 days so far in 2026, a rather low number for such an influential figure. Her absence has been especially noticeable in recent months, as she’s skipped several high-profile events and gone weeks without being seen publicly. Still, some of her supporters are defending her low-key approach, arguing that she should not be expected to maintain the same public schedule as other first ladies.

New Report Reveals Melania Trump Has Only Made 38 Public Appearances This Year
A new report from The Daily Beast recently took a look at the Slovenian native's public schedule and has highlighted just how limited her presence has been during her husband, President Donald Trump's second presidential term. According to the publication's findings, Melania has been seen in public on just 38 days in 2026, meaning she has averaged an appearance only once every six days. The number includes official events as well as occasions when she was simply photographed in public.
Her schedule has become particularly sparse over the summer, with her most recent documented public appearance being on July 19th, when she attended the FIFA World Cup final in New Jersey alongside her husband, son Barron, and her four stepchildren. She's been noticeably absent from several notable events, including the redo of the White House Correspondents' Dinner and the funeral of late Senator Lindsey Graham.
The former model has always kept a rather lower profile than other first ladies, but this time around, her lack of presence has become more and more clear to many who've been keeping up with her husband's presidency.

Melania Trump Fans Defend Her Decision To Keep A Low Profile
While the report has drawn attention to the little time the 56-year-old appears in public, some of her supporters don't seem to view her limited schedule as a problem. For fans who prefer the first lady's more private approach, her not going to certain public events is simply part of the way she has chosen to take on the role.
Now, on social media, some users are left debating just how involved a First Lady needs to be, with supporters backing her decision not to always be visible.
"And?" asked a Reddit user. "Is she supposed to appear more?"
"I don't really care," mentioned another.
As one user added, "That's the dream, to be honest."
"Her choice!" commented a fan. "She can do as she pleases!"
"Leave her alone," wrote a supporter on Facebook, as another asked, "And what business is it of ours?"
We'll be curious to see if the first lady decides to step out a little bit more for the latter half of this year or at least the latter half of her husband's second term. But for right now, it looks like even if she does face criticism for staying a few steps behind him, she has supporters who will continue to back her up.
