Amazon Prime subscribers aren’t exactly thrilled about the streaming platform’s latest announcement involving Melania Trump.
The first lady is getting another documentary project, with a new two-part series set to premiere later this month. However, after the less-than-stellar reception to her first film, some viewers are already threatening to boycott the streaming service rather than tune in for another look into her life. Amazon Announces Two-Part Melania Trump Docuseries Coming To Prime Video This Month
The Slovenian native is returning to the screen with a new two-part docuseries titled MELANIA, The Series, which will give viewers another behind-the-scenes look at her life as first lady. The project was previously teased by her senior adviser Marc Beckman, who helped spread the word about the upcoming release before Amazon officially confirmed the news on Friday, November 6th.
According to Amazon, the series will premiere on Prime Video on November 20th and feature previously unseen footage from the days following Donald Trump's January 2025 inauguration. The two episodes, titled "Family & Trust" and "Pride & Honor," will reportedly explore Melania's return to the White House and her responsibilities as first lady. Brett Ratner, who also directed her first documentary, is behind the new project.
Prime Subscribers Aren't Happy About Another Melania Trump Documentary
However, not everyone is looking forward to seeing more of Melania on their screens. Following the announcement, some Prime Video subscribers made it clear that they have no interest in watching the upcoming series, with several threatening to boycott the streaming platform altogether.
Much of the frustration appears to stem from the fact that Amazon is giving the first lady another major project after her previous documentary received overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics. Despite Amazon reportedly spending $40 million to acquire the documentary and another $35 million on marketing, it earned just around $16.7 million worldwide at the box office and got a whole lot of backlash.
"I have never wanted to not watch something more than I will this pay-for-play," an X user responded to the new series.
"Thanks for the warning," added another. "Can't wait to ignore this."
"Really reading the room, aren't they?" a user joked, as another commented, "The grifts continue with this family. It is never enough for them!"
"Based on the election results, we know no one will be watching it," a user added.
"I don't have Prime Video and now never will," wrote another.
