Ah, stars, they’re just like us… navigating through messy romantic escapades and all. The multitalented Selena Gomez hosted Saturday Night Live over the weekend for the first time with musical guest Post Malone. She treated millions of viewers to her hilarious jokes and signature witty delivery, and one joke in particular was all too relatable (for many of us). The Only Murders in the Building star, 29, made light of her single status in her monologue, and garnered countless laughs and resounding applause.
“One reason I’m really excited to host ‘SNL’ is because I’m single — and I’ve heard ‘SNL’ is a great place to find romance,” she said. “Since I don’t really want to try the dating apps, I just want to put it in the universe that I’m manifesting love,” she added. “But at this point, I would take anyone.”

Gomez then mentioned several celebrity relationships that can be credited to SNL for either introducing or reuniting future couples, as the late-night set is where Emma Stone met her husband Dave McCary (producer at SNL), and the very place where Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson began their romance as well.
The Wizards of Waverly Place icon also joked about the bromance between Pete Davidson and Machine Gun Kelly as seen in one past episode (remember that meme-able moment when the rapper fell off the stage in 2021 and his comedian pal went down with him?) This of course, led her to allude to Davidson’s current relationship with Kim Kardashian, as the two became more than friends as a result of an SNL skit in which they kissed for the first time.

While Gomez hasn’t met a beau herself on SNL (or at least as of what we know now), she notably dated Justin Bieber from 2010 to 2015, and then they were on-again-off-again, finally breaking up for good in 2018 (as he got engaged to current wife Hailey Bieber later that year). The Rare Beauty founder has also been romantically linked to The Weeknd, Zedd, Nick Jonas and Niall Horan briefly in the past, as well. For now, it seems the beautiful actress is living it up and making fellow single gals everywhere proud of her self-love!
