As we turn over our calendars to a new year, it’s a good time to consider which trends are not worth bringing with us. It’s a good goal to have at least one style-related New Year’s resolution so that 2019 is your most stylish year yet. So–which trends are definitely going to be out?

“There are some trends that will last forever and make a woman feel confident for ages like denim jackets,” celebrity and TV stylist Jeni Elizabeth tells us. “They are timeless and never go out of style. Others like the bell sleeves, mom jeans and ruffles have run their course and need to be retired,” she warns.

“Mom jeans were short lived (thank God!) and fun for a moment, but they must be retired from the closet for 2019,” Jeni explains of the high-waisted, light wash jeans that the likes of Kendall Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Emily Ratajkowski flocked to in 2018.

So what trends ARE in for 2019? “Fun suits, polka dots, little dresses and lace pants!” Jeni Elizabeth advises.
