More and more brides have turned to rustic-themed weddings recently because of their romantic simplicity. They're easy to pull off without breaking the bank, and country-inspired rustic decor makes a beautiful photo backdrop. But, before you start planning your rustic wedding, check out five things you don't want to forget.

rustic wedding decorations

You can easily DIY decorations. For any other wedding theme, we would probably advise against taking your decorations into your own hands—it's just a risky job. But, thankfully, rustic themes have ushered in a wave of easy, beautiful DIY decor. From cute mason jar centerpieces to pretty DIY string lights, you can quickly whip up lovely wedding decorations.

Not incorporating wood decor. You can pull off rustic weddings in so many different ways, but one underlying decor detail seems to set the tone for a true rustic-inspired event—wood. For an authentic country vibe, decorate your wedding venue with wood tables or burlap signs. Bam—instantly rustic.

Not choosing a venue that matches your theme. If you really want to pull off the rustic feel, you need a venue that can help do the trick. You shouldn't rely on decor alone. Because rustic weddings tend to err on the more casual side, many couples choose to host theirs in more casual locations, like outdoors under a tent or a barn. Renting a grandiose ballroom doesn't scream rustic, no matter how you decorate it, so make sure you choose a wedding venue that can bring your rustic inspirations to life.

outdoor rustic wedding

Not keeping the seasons in mind. Because so many rustic-obsessed couples have casual, outdoor weddings, it's important to consider your wedding date. It might be a bit harder to pull this style off in the winter as opposed to spring or summer.

wedding flowers

Not dressing it up. Because rustic decor is typically fairly simple and casual, you need a touch of glam to add a more wedding-inspired feel to your venue. Garnish your rustic decor with pretty flowers or garlands.
