Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell have reportedly split up after almost one year together! The 59-year-old actor started dating his 39-year-old Mission: Impossible 7 co-star at the end of last year – they were first spotted together in December 2020 – but sources close to the couple have confirmed that they decided to amicably call it quits. Emphasis on the amicable!
As Cruise and the British actress work very closely together during filming, it could have potentially been very awkward if the split was less-than-friendly, but insiders have assured us that there are actually no hard feelings between the exes. Phew! Cruise and Atwell reportedly started dating at the start of filming the seventh instalment of the iconic action movie, with insiders suggesting that they made a “good match” from the get go.

Although they never officially confirmed their relationship, they made no secret of their romance either, as they were spotted together at a number of high-profile events, including Wimbledon earlier this summer. (Don’t they look SO GOOD together?!) However, since filming is now coming to an end, their relationship seems to have also followed suit…
“It has been a very intense period of filming together. They really got on well – and they’re obviously both very good-looking Hollywood stars so it made for a good match,” an insider reportedly told British tabloid, The Sun. “But as the latest film winds down they’ve decided to go back to being friends,” the insider continued, adding that filming schedules and filming locations may have played a huge part in the reason for their split.

"Their filming schedules are very full-on, and Tom has a number of other commitments coming up and is always shooting around by private helicopter and jet so it just ran its course. But they’re still happy to work together. It’s a shame, but just one of those things. They still get on well."
Well, at least the film premieres and promos won’t be awkward if they have to appear together! We were kind of excited about what the future could have held for Cruise and Atwell, especially as she was the actor's first long-term girlfriend since ending things with ex-wife Katie Holmes back in 2012. Wow – has it really been almost ten years since TomKat split? Anyone else starting to feel really, really old right now? The Top Gun star has seemingly enjoyed the single life since ending things with Holmes – with whom he shares 15-year-old daughter Suri – so we had high hopes that he and Atwell could have taken things further. Never mind; this is Hollywood, and as we know, anything can happen!
