There’s a perfectly legit reason why your iPhone is annoying you these days — it likely has something to do with its refusal to hold a charge for any significant amount of time. Considering how much of an investment your phone is, it makes sense to want to get the most out of it. Tech Expert Leslie Radka, founder and hiring manager of GreatPeopleSearch, says there are four tricks you can easily fo to make an iPhone charge last longer. These tricks will barely take up any time at all in your day and can pay you back with a phone that is powered up and can take you through the day and into the night.

1. Restart your phone

Sounds too simple, but restarting your iPhone on a regular basis can improve battery life by killing background processes that may be consuming precious juice, according to Radka. “To bring up the power off slider, simply press and hold the volume up button on the left and the power button on the right (or hold the power button if your iPhone has a home button),” Radka says. “Then simply press and hold the power button to restart it.”

2. Change the screen’s brightness

“The display brightness is probably the biggest power hog, but it can be adjusted to save power,” Radka says. “You can dim the screen by dragging the Brightness slider in your Control Center, or you can enable Auto-Brightness in Settings > Accessibility.”

3. Remove Background App Refresh

It's all too easy to lose track of how many apps are running on your phone, Radka says, and as the ones you're not using refresh in the background, your battery drains. “Turn off Background App Refresh in the General section of your Settings to stop this,” Radka says.

4. Make your phone lock faster

Finally, if your iPhone is constantly turned on, the battery will run out quickly. “However, you can set the amount of time that elapses between touching your phone and the screen going dark and locking,” Radka says, “The options are found in the Display & Brightness section of Settings and range from 30 seconds (optimal) to five minutes.”
