And while the adorable clan was all decked out in summer whites, Jen took things to the next level in a statement handkerchief embroidered gown by Tory Burch. Originally retailing for a cool $2.5K at the beginning of the summer, the gorgeous ivory slip features lace insets, a colorful flower motif and an asymmetrical skirt. And don’t even get us started on THAT sexy neckline!
Floral detailing is always a popular choice for summer, but Jen proved she’s once again ahead of the fashion curve by flaunting another on-point trend: patchwork knit. With loud colors, contrasting textures and unexpected silhouettes, the look’s likely all over your Insta feed by now – and more designers are putting their own spin on the piece-y aesthetic every day. Unsurprisingly, Jen’s dress is an elevated spin on patchwork knit, as it features patched-together handkerchiefs as an homage to Tory Burch’s mother, who liked to collect the silk squares.
The dress may scream summer, but Jen made it totally fall-appropriate by grounding it with chunky, burgundy Coach boots. Just like she teases here, there are plenty of ways to take summer dresses into fall and beyond. After temps drop, try layering a breezy slip with a fitted turtleneck underneath or a chic knit sweater on top. And never underestimate the power of your accessories! Dark, knee-high boots can make even lightweight dresses look like they were made for fall – and hats and scarves are basically autumn staples at this point.
