Picking how to wear your hair on your wedding day falls on one of the top five most important wedding planning decisions you have to make. Should you go for a middle part with toussled waves, or a messy bun? If you go with the updo route, be wary of this one common mistake many brides make. Your wedding day is THE worst day of your life to have a hair crisis.

When you choose an updo, so much consideration goes into the back of the hairstyle. Do you want braids, a bun, or a ponytail for your updo style? Do you want a messy, or polished look? Do you want curly or straight hair? With all these important decisions for the back of your 'do, so many brides forget about how they want the front of their locks to look.

Ah, the front of your face. How could you ever forget about how to style such a crucial area!? Cue another boatload of decisions. Do you want strands of hair to cascade down your flawless face? What kind of hair part do you want? Middle? Deep right or left part? Just when you thought you had all the hair decisions checked off the list, unfortunately you need to think about even more. It's espeically easy to forget about the front of your hair when every updo you've added to your wedding Pinterest board only shows the back of the model's head.

Bear in mind that you shouldn't diverge too much from your normal hairstyle for your wedding day updo. If you've been parting your hair to the side for as long as you can remember, stubborn strands might make it hard to switch to an updo with a middle part. And, if you know your hair doesn't hold curl or stay straight, don't risk it on your wedding day.

Practice your wedding updo before the big day so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. If you're hiring a hair stylist for the big day (which we definitely recommend), test out a few options and tell them exactly what type of updo you want (front section and all!). Then, pick the stylist who made you feel the most glam. You also want to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get ready on your wedding day, just in case you don't like how your hair looks. Happy wedding day hairstyle hunting!
