So when you start to crave a caffeinated beverage or sweet treat in the middle of the day, there’s nothing wrong with indulging yourself. You just have to be sure you pick the right drink.
We all know that the drinks on the menus of some of our favorite coffee shops aren’t the most healthy for you, but most people don’t realize just how bad some of these options can be. We took a deeper look into one of our favorite Dunkin Donuts drinks, and we learned the shocking truth about what it actually does to your health.
The Frozen Chocolate from Dunkin is probably the worst drink you can get, anywhere. The drink seems like an amazing idea - the chocolatey treat we all love in the winter, but made into a refreshing iced beverage for the summer. But if you look at what exactly goes into the Frozen Chocolate, you’ll probably never order it again.
A large size of the Dunkin Frozen Chocolate comes with a whopping 900 calories, 18 grams of fat, 174 grams of carbs and 162 grams of sugar. This means that drinking one serving of this beverage gives you more than half of your daily recommended intake of trans fat and 63% of your recommended intake of carbs. Not to mention it’s 288% of the sugar you should eat in a day.
Next time you crave a sweet drink in the middle of the day, opt for a different drink than the Frozen Chocolate. You shouldn’t deprive yourself completely of a chocolate drink, so pick the Dunkin Iced Coffee with a Mocha Swirl. This option is much better for you, with 210 calories, one gram of fat, 50 grams of carbs and 46 grams of sugar in a large. This is still not terribly great for you, as it contains 93% of your daily recommended intake of sugar, but it’s a much better choice than the Frozen Chocolate.
