60+ Gift Ideas For Everyone On Your List

If you’ve ever wondered why it’s so important to get regular haircuts and color maintenance, let me be a cautionary tale. Up until a few weeks ago, it’d been almost two years since I last visited a hair salon. Yes, two years! See for yourself:

I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t take care of my hair the way I should have. It had too many dead ends and was at an awful stage of old color growing out. When I noticed that I was wearing my hair up or pulled back every single day, I knew it was time to make a change. I mean what’s the point of having all this hair if I’m just going to hide it in a messy bun all the time?

After some convincing, I decided to go see celebrity hairstylist Kathy Benghanem at Gemini 14 Salon in New York City. She’s worked with celebs like Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens, so I was pretty confident I was in good hands.

I went into the salon with long hair that had no movement or shape, frizzy dead ends and about 50 shades of old blonde at the ends. After two trips to the salon (hair goals don’t happen overnight people!) and around 9 hours of work, I finally got the hair of my dreams. Yes, I know it was a lot of time and work, but it was so worth it! Here’s the finished product:

Pretty incredible, right?! If you’re wondering how my hairstylist achieved this, brace yourself. During the first appointment, she started by cutting 6 inches of hair off because there’s no point in coloring hair you’re planning to cut anyway. Next, she did a traditional highlight with foliage in between. She also teased the hair towards the roots to diffuse the line of color for a softer growth. Once the color was finished, I got my actual haircut (with a straightedge!) from the amazing Aviva Perei. During my second appointment, she added lowlights for depth and a gloss to make my hair shiny and soft.

I can’t tell you just how happy I am with how this hair transformation turned out; I really can’t believe what a difference it has made. Cutting those dead ends off revealed the natural waves in my hair that I thought were gone for good.

If you are in the tri-state area and you’re in need of some serious hair TLC like I was, you need to visit this salon. You won’t regret it.
