Cocktail parties can go one of two ways: they can either be filled with fabulous people and fabulous conversation, or they can be painfully boring. Either way, they tend to be a necessary evil for certain fields of work (especially the fashion industry), so you might as well dazzle them with your fashion savvy. If nothing else, cocktail parties are great for people watching, and you might as well be one to watch.
Start with a bold print dress as the focus of your ensemble. Since it will most likely be an evening event, you can go all out with an artsy pattern and contrasting colors. Since you don't want to draw attention away from the dress, choose strappy sandals in the same color which are edgy enough to keep up with the dress. Then add some simple gold earrings and modern black bracelet – don't go overboard with the jewelry. Finally, a shot of color by way of a candy red clutch will make the whole ensemble pop and will be sure to make you the instant topic of conversation – in a good way, of course.
