Whoopi Goldberg has made her thoughts on marriage abundantly clear, revealing why she has no interest in walking down the aisle for a fourth time during a candid discussion on the Tuesday, August 4th episode of the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast.
The 70-year-old EGOT recipient and The View co-host explained that marriage isn’t for her, having tried it several times throughout her life. She was married to her former drug counselor Alvin Martin, with whom she shares daughter Alexandrea “Alex” Martin, between 1973 and 1979. She later married Dutch cinematographer David Claessen in 1986 before they divorced in 1988, while her third marriage was to union organizer Lyle Trachtenberg in 1994, and it ended just one year later in 1995. Whoopi Goldberg Talks To Keke Palmer About Why She Doesn't Want To Get Married Again
The Sister Act star, who has faced backlash for her controversial comments on The View more times than we can count – including saying she has to "work for a living" – candidly explained that one of the reasons she doesn't want to get married again is because she doesn't want to live with anyone else, or have to constantly think about someone else's needs over her own.
After Keke brought up Whoopi's previous comment that she "doesn't want anybody in her house," the actress explained exactly why she feels that way…
"This is why I'm not interested in relationships, because I don't want to have to think about you," the Color Purple star explained. "I don't want to have to think about what your needs are, why you're upset. I don't want to have to answer questions about why you're mad at me."

"I don't want to live with anybody," she clarified, confirming that she is in "a relationship with my family," rather than a romantic partner. That's not to say she doesn't like male attention, but she is happy to return to herself at the end of the day…
"I'm happy for you to be at your house. I love a hit and run," the Ghost alum quipped, before saying that couples can be happy with each other without walking down the aisle, referencing a very famous couple.
"Anytime somebody tells you about getting married, you just remind them that Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have had this magnificent relationship for years and they didn't get married. So, it can work," the Girl, Interrupted actress said. "It requires you to put the effort in if that's what you want, you know."

She went on to talk about a message in her book, If Someone Says 'You Complete Me,' Run! and said: "That's not what I need from you. I don't need to complete you. I just need to do me, and I need not to feel bad or to make myself less than in order to make you feel better. It just doesn't make sense."
The Jumpin' Jack Flash actress said so many people "let themselves be diminished by their partner," which isn't a "good thing for anybody." She went on: "This is one of the reasons for me that I don't mind being not attached."
"I tried to be married several times. I tried to like, do it. I kept thinking I'm doing this wrong," she recalled, in reference to her three marriages. "And what I was doing wrong was trying to be not me, but what they wanted... the me they wanted me to be. You know, and I'm very cranky."
