The 125 Best New Beauty Launches Of 2023

I was not raised on granola, I was never forced to wear clothes made out of hemp, and all time that I spent as a vegetarian was an act of rebellion to punish my parents, not as a result of their wishes. Many of my friends are children of hippies, but I was raised on lucky charms, cable TV, and synthetic clothing. Organic foods and a natural lifestyle is something that I’ve stumbled upon myself in my post-college panic of getting older. So as much as I want to do better by my body and the earth, it sort of goes against everything I knew while growing up. For example, it strikes me as a wee bit counter-intuitive to rub oil all over my face as part of my beauty regimen. Didn’t I spend my youth buying a hundred different products trying to get rid of excess oil? But when I discovered Vernacular Skin Works’ Light Hydrating Fluid and I was sold. It’s refreshing and soothing and makes my skin feel sane after a day of make-up, pollution, and stress. With its mix of vitamin e, olive squalane, and jojoba oil, it sounds like something I would dress a salad with, but it isn’t greasy at all. And like all of Vernacular Skin Work’s products, it contains no fragrances, dyes, acids, plastics, and less than eight ingredients. Find more gentle skin care products at Vernacularskinworks.com.
