Fans have had some qualms with Brie Larson this month as the 32-year-old recently took to Twitter to promote her new project, sparking criticism of becoming a corporate sellout. The actress has been in the film industry for years, but it’s seemingly rubbing fans the wrong way that she’s strayed from her formerly indie roots and is accepting projects that don’t fit their view of her.

On March 16, Larson shared to Twitter a video clip from the new digital platform some.place, writing in the accompanying text, “Welcome to my lil corner of the @some_place metaverse. Can’t wait to welcome you all in soon.” The actress had designed a character that looked much like her, walking around a gallery-esque room to promote the ‘metaverse’ game.

However, fans weren’t thrilled that the actress was delving into projects outside of acting, with responses to her tweet criticizing her newest biggest venture. “it’s extra sad to see brie of all ppl doing all this shit like before marvel she was an indie queen just vibing and being a very normal person and now………it’s turned her into a corporate nightmare i do not like her it’s been a fun couple years watching the downfall,” one fan wrote.

Another simply quipped, “This is garbage.” The actress is evidently into the world of NFT’s which has grown in popularity over recent years, referring to digital assets that you can sell or trade. But contrary to the belief of fans that it was her more mainstream acting projects that have led her to ‘sell out,’ it seems that Larson is genuinely interested in NFT’s, even going as far as to make her Twitter profile picture an image from the metaverse.

While fans were not thrilled with Larson advertising her love for the metaverse, the actress has made no plans to change her social media content, leaving the controversial Twitter post up and opting not to comment on the backlash. Larson is also not the only actress interested in this new virtual universe, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon also expressing interest in the space.
