Julia Roberts shut down the London Ticket To Paradise red carpet premiere this week in a one-of-a-kind LBD! The Wonder star, 54, stepped out in a stunning, custom black lace dress with symbolic and significant embroidered, white detailing. Roberts donned head-to-toe Alexander McQueen, and her ‘Chantilly’ get-up consisted of a floor-length black gown with deep, plunging neckline and the crystallized initials and birthdays of her son Henry, 15, and twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 17.

The intricate garment also highlighted the words “Hope,” “Darling” and “Love,” with a heart and arrow along with the year “2002,” which was the year she wed her second husband, cinematographer Danny Moder. The Pretty Woman icon also added a cropped black blazer to highlight her tiny waist, and accessorized with rings and shiny silver dangly earrings. Roberts wore her long, light brown tresses down, parted in the middle and styled into elegant, loose waves. The mom of three joined her co-star George Clooney on the red carpet, and was photographed smiling along with him and his wife, Amal.

Back in 2004, the Notting Hill alum famously stepped away from acting to raise her children, and prioritize time with them. She notably told the Wall Street Journal that same year, “By the time we had kids, I had accomplished things and felt secure about that part of my life. I was so joyful moving into the family phase of my life in a sincere way.”
“For a long time,” she continued, the kids “weren’t even aware that I had a job because I was home so much.” While Roberts could acknowledge her own fame, she explained that her kids didn’t see her A-list Hollywood status as clearly, only viewing her as “mom,” which was her ultimate goal. In conversation with Oprah Winfrey in 2018 for Harper’s BAZAAR, Roberts confessed, “I don’t think they will ever have a true sense of that.”

She added, “I think I told you once when they were starting to figure it out, it was like, ‘You’re famous?’ And I said, ‘I think a lot of people might have seen the movie that I’m in or might know who I am.”‘More recently, it’s safe to say Roberts’ children are aware of their mom’s star status now, as her daughter Hazel attended the 2021 Cannes Film Festival for the screening of the Sean Penn film, Flag Day, which her father worked on as well.
The official Alexander McQueen Instagram account shared a red carpet photo of Roberts in her dress with its 12.3 million followers, and naturally, they can’t get enough. “Agelessly beautiful!!!” wrote one fan as another user commented that they “loved the tribute to her kids” with the dress. Someone else dubbed Roberts and her ensemble for the night to be “worth obsessing over” and we couldn’t agree more.
