Move over, Jaden Smith—Kim Kardashian is the latest celebrity to divide the internet over a controversial shoe design.
SKIMS’ jelly shoes have gone viral for all the wrong reasons, with social media users calling the water-friendly footwear everything from “cheap” to “diabolical.”
SKIMS officially launched its viral Jelly Shoes in early March 2026 after months of buzz and previews dating back to mid-2025. The $58 shoes are made from water-friendly PVC and feature ventilation holes and an embossed SKIMS logo.
Designed to be worn in the water, the flats come in a neutral gray shade that matches the brand’s swim collection.

Kim Kardashian’s Jelly Shoes Mocked Online
In a video reposted to Instagram on June 7, content creator Addie Flynne reacted to the shoes, while Kim explained why she was so excited about the design.
“This is something I am so excited about. We’ve been developing these for such a long time,” the mom of four said. “They’re like a clear jelly shoe infused with like the same color gray as the swim collection. They are so perfect for like, if you go to the beach or a lake and you just want to get in the water and use these in the water, they’re amazing.”
Fans, however, weren’t quite as enthusiastic, flooding the comments with humorous—and mostly negative—reactions.
“The shoes look like a stained phone case,” one person wrote.
Another said, “Everything looks so cheap.”
“It’s giving foot fungus,” another commenter added.
Another wrote, “We stopped wearing jelly shoes for so many reasons.”
“Dirty cell phone case,” one person joked.
Another said, “They look like they’ll melt in July.”
One commenter questioned whether the reality TV star was simply bringing back a childhood trend, writing, “Did she just try and recreate….the jelly sandals that most ppl wore as kids in the 80’s and 90’s….but without color?”

Kim Kardashian To Expand SKIMS Overseas
While some of Kardashian’s SKIMS creations continue to spark debate online, the reality star appears to be focused on expanding the brand globally.
SKIMS recently opened a new flagship store on London’s Regent Street. The store opened on July 24th and features multiple floors.
The 12,000-square-foot location marks the brand’s first permanent store outside North America and stocks its full range, including shapewear, loungewear and swimwear.
The brand is also expanding into India. SKIMS has signed a deal with Reliance Brands Limited to bring the label to the Indian market, with both physical and digital stores planned.
