Kaia Gerber is on the cover of Vogue‘s prestigious September issue looking absolutely sensational in a head-to-toe Chanel ensemble – and the 24-year-old did not hold back in her accompanying interview either, as she candidly addressed the stigma of being a nepo baby!
The daughter of iconic ’90s supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman and former model Rande Gerber, Kaia appears on the cover and in the accompanying editorial alongside fellow nepo baby Homer Gere (Richard Gere’s son, of course) to promote FX’s The Shards, Ryan Murphy‘s adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel which they both star in.

Gerber opened up about navigating Hollywood with a famous last name, admitting to Vogue: “I’ve only ever been a nepo baby, and I’ve only ever benefited in my career from it.” The model and actress also revealed that the experience has made her hold herself to a higher standard, saying: “I said to Homer… ‘what that’s done for me is make me want to work harder.'”
She admitted that she also finds herself judging other nepo babies by the same standard, adding: “But I also find myself doing it to other nepo babies thinking like, okay, show me why you deserve this job.”
Gerber has, of course, already carved out an impressive modeling and acting career of her own. She has walked the runway for some of the biggest fashion houses in the world, including Chanel, Versace, Prada, and Valentino, while her acting credits include Bottoms, Babylon, Palm Royale and American Horror Story. There were mixed reactions online, with some people praising Gerber for acknowledging the advantages her famous family has given her and wanting to prove herself, while others criticized nepotism in Hollywood more generally.
"If this article reflects the words of Kaia, sounds like she has some smarts to me. Admits her advantage and wants to try to earn it," praised one Fox News Digital reader. "No shame in nepotism. You can't help who your parents are, be proud and grateful," said a second.
"She is gorgeous like her mother and knows how to do her job through hard work like her mother. The whole 'nepo' thing is nonsense. We all inherit traits and develop skills influenced by our families," a third chimed in, as a fourth said: "I hope my children benefit from my hard work without relying on that to define who they are. All parents should help their kids, but they have to learn to become their own person and make their own way!"
