if you’re the type of person who cringes every time your phone rings, you are probably also the type who is using one or more messenger apps to communicate to the world without actually having to speak on the phone. But if you are also concerned about your privacy and security online, it’s worth knowing which messenger apps are riskier than others so that you can make a more informed decision about the app you choose you use.
“One may consider that almost every messenger application does the same thing, and there would be no difference between the two,” Tech Expert Steven Walker, CEO of Spylix, tells SHEFinds.com. “But, to their surprise, this doesn’t seem right as the features offered by them vary from one to another. Some may drain the battery faster depending upon the number of permissions granted to the application. On the other hand, some may pose serious cyber and security threats to the users. So it is essential to be picky and install the best one possible.”
This is the one messenger app you should never download to your iPhone.
Facebook Messenger
“To the surprise of many, Facebook Messenger is one of the very few such applications that iPhone users should never install on their devices,” Walker says. “It is so popular that people might not think of it as a problematic application. It doesn’t provide end-to-end encryption as WhatsApp does, and hence anyone can keep track of the conversations between two people.”
Also, Walker adds, from a test conducted, it was found out that Facebook Messenger has one of the worst app designing software that cyberbullies can easily crack. “So, considering the security issues, I would suggest not installing this,” Walker says. “Instead, go for alternatives that provide better security options and end-to-end encryption.”
