Sunny Hostin is facing major backlash after claiming that she was the holdout juror in the notorious 1991 Daniel Rakowitz murder trial, a claim that has since been disputed by numerous reports. The View co-host is also facing backlash over her recent defense of the so-called “Cornell 7,” seven fraternity members accused of sexually assaulting a woman. Keep reading for more information.

Sunny Hostin Takes Credit As 'Lone Juror'
Hostin made the claim during the Tuesday, September 22 episode of The View, when the co-hosts were discussing the recent mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy murder case and the impact a lone holdout juror can have on a trial. Turning the conversation to her own experience, Hostin claimed that she was "a holdout juror" during the 1991 trial of Daniel Rakowitz, the New York man dubbed the “Butcher of Tompkins Square Park.” Rakowitz was accused of killing 26-year-old Monika Beerle in 1989.
Hostin claimed she eventually persuaded the other 11 jurors to agree that Rakowitz was not criminally responsible by reason of insanity. However, numerous accounts of the 1991 trial identified the lone juror as a male, making it impossible for the credit to go to Hostin.

Social Media Reactions
Across social media platforms, users weren't afraid to call the View host out for her claims. "Sunny Hostin is a liar...the hold out juror was a man!" one user wrote on X. "The specific claim that she was the lone, principal holdout who single-handedly flipped the room is contradicted by the reporting from 1991."
"This is literally insane," another posted. "Sunny Hostin says she was the hold out juror in 1991. It turns out she was lying to America on The View? The hold out juror was a man."
"All they do is lie," said a third user.
"This woman continues to tell lie after lie for attention," agreed the next.
"This is not the flex she thinks it is," posted one person.
"Does she ever tell the truth?" asked another.
"Hostin lied?!" a final user joked. "Who is shocked by this twist?"
