Sunny Hostin is facing backlash after a recent episode of The View, in which she calls for democrats to “get some power” and “get our country back.” While she may have been trying to encourage democrats to band together ahead of the midterms, her rhetoric came across as aggressive, and many viewers called her out for potentially inciting violence.

Sunny Hostin Says Democrats Don't Need To Take 'The Moral High Ground'
During a June 2026 episode of The View, Sunny Hostin and her co-hosts got to talking about prioritizing winning elections versus worrying about optics, but at one point, Hostin may have taken things too far. "Republicans, at this point, can ask us to take the moral high ground," she began. "That is over at this point!"
"That is over," she continued. "I am sorry. Democrats have always fallen in love, and Republicans have always fallen in line. It's time for Democrats to stop that nonsense, put emotions on the side. Let's be strategic, let's get some power, let's take over the Senate, let's take over the House, and let's right the ship! Let's get our country back."

Social Media Reactions
Across social media platforms, users of all political beliefs called the talk show host out for potentially inciting violence. "You can't say these kinds of things on live television!" one person wrote on a YouTube clip of the show.
"She's inciting an insurrection!" another user wrote.
"This is no better than what the MAGA crowd did on January 6th," another person wrote. "As a Democrat, I don't claim her energy."
"This kind of rhetoric only makes the political divide worse," said the next.
"Both parties need to stop using language that sounds like a battle cry," agreed another.
"The View cohosts really need to reign themselves in," a final user wrote. "They can't keep saying things like this!"
