My husband and I were both athletes in high school.
He played hockey and soccer; I ran competitive track and cross country. We were both pretty good at what we did, and then college happened, and… let’s just say the dedication tapered off considerably. I think about those years when I come across recovery tools that weren’t really accessible to us back then. Red light therapy technically existed, but it was clinical and expensive—not something an amateur high school athlete was likely getting their hands on. That’s a shame, because I think it could have made a real difference in our muscle recovery and overall performance.
Fast forward to today and my husband is still lacing up for his men’s roller hockey league, and I’m still running, just a lot more sporadically now that I’m a mom. We’re both making up for lost time when it comes to recovery, and that’s exactly why I jumped at the chance to try Megelin’s LASER&LED Light Therapy Bag.
I’ve previously tried Megelin’s Duo-Lux LASER&LED Light Therapy Mask and SlimCore Toning Belt, and been consistently impressed, so I was already familiar with the brand’s approach. Across its products, Megelin focuses on bringing professional-style beauty and recovery technologies into everyday life, with an emphasis on light therapy and portability. Unlike the bulky equipment you’d find in a physical therapy office, Megelin’s approach is designed to make these treatments easier to use at home.
All of that sounds great in theory, but I wanted to see what those technologies actually felt like in real life.

Megelin LASER&LED Light Therapy Bag: At A Glance
The Megelin LASER&LED Light Therapy Bag is a full-body light therapy device designed to bring professional-style photobiomodulation into your own home. It’s FDA-registered and clinically validated, and Megelin says it’s the world’s first full-body laser-integrated light therapy device. Unlike standard LED mats, which spread light across the skin’s surface, the bag combines LEDs with medical-grade lasers that deliver more focused light deeper into the tissue.
Inside the bag, 7,890 LEDs and 288 medical-grade VCSEL lasers work across six clinically selected wavelengths. The 630nm and 660nm wavelengths address surface-level concerns like dullness, uneven skin tone, and fine lines, while the near-infrared wavelengths (830nm through 940nm) go deeper to support muscle recovery, circulation, and cellular repair. The 1064nm laser reaches deepest and targets deeper tissue and areas of chronic tension.
The idea is to give your body a full-spectrum light therapy treatment in one device, rather than targeting different areas with separate products. And because it’s a bag, you can lie back and let it do its thing while you just relax.

What I Loved
Once you know what the bag is designed to do, the question is whether it feels like something you’d want to use. For me, the answer has been an enthusiastic yes.
I’ve been using it once my daughter goes to bed and I finally get a little time to myself. I zip myself in, set the timer for about 20 minutes, and just relax. The bag surrounds your body creating a cocoon-like experience that I found soothing. I originally thought I’d use it strictly after workouts, but it’s so relaxing that I’ve found myself looking forward to it as part of my pre-bedtime routine, too.
In part, I’m chalking that up to the 360-degree design. Because you’re surrounded by the light, you can get full-body exposure in a single session without flipping over halfway through or repositioning the device to reach another area.
And I did notice a difference in how my body felt after using it following a run. My muscles seemed less tight the next morning, particularly after a harder workout. The sleep benefit is harder for me to quantify, but I do feel like I’ve been sleeping more soundly on the evenings when I use the bag—which is interesting given that research on whole-body photobiomodulation has found potential improvements in sleep quality, although the evidence is still developing.
Megelin also cites independent SGS laboratory testing behind some of its clinical claims. According to the brand, consistent use was associated with up to a 93.5% improvement in pain and muscle discomfort, an 89.7% reduction in inflammatory markers, and up to a 91.4% improvement in wrinkles within one to two weeks. Of course, those are brand-reported test results, not a guarantee of what every user will experience.

A Few Things to Consider
There are a few things I’d want to know before buying the Megelin LASER&LED Light Therapy Bag—and the first is that this is not a small, grab-and-go wellness gadget. As a full-body bag, it’s quite large and bulky. You need enough space to actually stretch out inside it, and while it folds down for storage, you’re probably not going to tuck it away in a bathroom cabinet and forget about it.
As is the case with some light therapy face masks I’ve tried, it’s also quite bright. That shouldn’t come as a huge surprise when you’re lying inside a device packed with thousands of LEDs and lasers, but it’s still something to keep in mind. The bag does come with protective safety goggles, which I found helpful.
The other thing I’d keep expectations realistic about is how quickly you’ll notice results. Light therapy isn’t something I’d use once and expect to see a dramatic difference tomorrow. I noticed that my body felt more relaxed and less tight after sessions, particularly following a run, but the longer-term benefits are harder to assess from a relatively short testing period. Changes to things like skin tone, texture or fine lines may also be subtle, particularly when you’re treating your entire body rather than focusing on one small area.

My Final Take
I can totally see why someone would want the Megelin Light Therapy Bag at home. For me, the biggest appeal has been recovery, and I love how relaxing it is as part of my nighttime routine. But with its different wavelengths designed to address everything from muscle recovery to skin firmness and texture, it’s really more of a full-body beauty and wellness treatment than a recovery device alone.
On sale now for $2,399, it’s still a significant investment, so I’d want to know I’d actually use it regularly before buying. But if you’re looking for a way to combine recovery and skin care in one at-home treatment, it’s a fantastic option.
