You gotta love rags-to-riches stories like this: “After having a dream one night, designer Mary Norton, created the first few MOO ROO (nicknames of her two daughters, Micah and Reilly) bags on her dining room table (in Charleston, South Carolina) as gifts for friends. Six short years later, MOO ROO has become an internationally acclaimed luxury brand with a huge celebrity and fashionista following.” No kidding…Norton has managed to snap pictures of her bags in the hands of stars from Allison Janney to Paris Hilton [read: from “talented” to “not so much”]. She’s branched out to scarves and jewelry, but it’s the minaudiere that really stand out. You know, those tiny little clutch purses just big enough to hold a credit card and a tampon, which are usually encrusted with rhinestones. They were made popular by Judith Leiber. Despite their pricetags, they continue to be popular because they are glamourous and, I must admit, beautiful. A silver metallic leather version is a supposed “Sharon Stone favorite.” Covered in Swarovski crystals in an abstract peace symbol pattern, it caught my eye from the moment I saw it – and every other time I visited the web page again and again just to ogle it. I might seriously consider buying it if I could convince myself that by doing so I’d, somehow, be supporting world peace. But since that’s not likely, I’ll leave it for you.
