Social Media Slams 'Nepo Babies' Barron Trump & Kai Trump As 'Grifters' After They Both Released Energy Drinks: 'Boycott Both'

Donald Trump and Melania Trump‘s son Barron Trump, 20, and the president’s granddaughter Kai Trump, 19 (the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his ex-wife Vanessa Trump) are both facing backlash after launching their own caffeinated drinks just weeks apart. While Barron co-founded Sollos Yerba Mate, Kai teamed up with Accelerator Active Energy to release her signature flavor, Blue Raz Slush – and many social media users aren’t impressed, with some branding the pair “nepo babies” and “grifters” among other things.

Barron co-founded Sollos alongside four other young business partners from South Florida. The company describes itself as a “brand built around the Florida lifestyle,” with its debut product, Pineapple + Coconut Yerba Mate, made using organic Brazilian yerba mate, pineapple and coconut flavors, and sweetened with cane sugar, raw honey, and monk fruit. Each can contains 120mg of natural caffeine and 50 calories. The drink currently retails for $39 for a 12-pack and is available online and at select retailers across South Florida.

Kai, meanwhile, collaborated with Accelerator Active Energy on Blue Raz Slush, which the company says was “inspired by nostalgic blue raspberry slushies and summertime memories.” The zero-sugar drink contains 200mg of natural caffeine from coffee beans and green tea, along with plant-based thermogenics and cognitive boosters. According to the company, Kai was involved throughout the development process, helping test flavors and shape the final product. A 12-pack retails for $24.99 and has been sold through Amazon and Accelerator’s website.

The Sollos website says the brand's name revolves around "the full cycle of the sun," explaining that "SOL" represents sunrise while "LOS" symbolizes sunset. The company also says the beverage "is built to move with your day."

However, Barron's drink had already sparked criticism when it launched, with many social media users questioning its $39 price tag. Some branded it "absurd" and accused the company of cashing in on the Trump name, with one person writing: "12 pack for $39? Insane."

Kai's collaboration hasn't escaped criticism either, and now that both products are on the market, many critics are taking aim at the Trump family's latest business ventures.

Social Media Reactions

"Quit promoting this [expletive]," slammed one person on Vanity Fair's Instagram post about the competing drinks. "10/10 will not try," wrote a second. A third simply demanded: "Boycott both."

"Nepo Seltzer," quipped a fourth. "They taste like water from the reflecting pool," joked a fifth, referencing President Donald Trump's algae-filled Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool.

"Neither of them actually made anything, btw," noted a sixth, as a seventh concurred: "More grifting." "Continuing the grift," echoed an eighth, as a ninth asked: "Why would anyone buy either?" "Did they both receive a 'small loan of $1 million' [from] daddy/grampy?" sarcastically enquired a tenth.
