Worried that your smartphone might be accessed by someone with malicious intent? Then there are definitely some signs you should look out for.
While it’s relatively rare for a modern smartphone to become infected with malware, it’s certainly not impossible. That’s why it’s important to pay attention to both subtle and obvious changes in your phone’s behavior, especially if something suddenly seems off. Read more about two signs that could indicate your phone has a virus or malware below.

1. Your Battery Is Suddenly Draining Much Faster
If your phone's battery suddenly starts dying much faster than usual, malware could potentially be running in the background and using up your device's resources. While there are plenty of harmless reasons for increased battery drain, an unexplained and noticeable change is worth investigating.
"If you're seeing a spike in battery usage even when your phone is left idle, you can assume there is an app running excessive background processes," explains tech pro and store owner Steven Athwal.

2. You're Getting Unexpected Security Alerts
Unexpected security warnings or alerts can also be a red flag, particularly if they appear frequently or tell you that your phone has been infected. Be cautious before clicking on any pop-ups, though, as fake security alerts are themselves a common tactic used to trick people into downloading malicious software.
"Any Apple ID security alerts, repeated password reset emails, login alerts from unfamiliar locations, or if you've been locked out of iCloud, you've probably had your credentials phished," Athwal adds.
