If you keep over-the-counter pain relievers in your medicine cabinet, you may want to double-check the bottles you have at home. More than 112,000 bottles of Amazon-branded extra-strength acetaminophen have been recalled nationwide after customers reported finding discolored tablets, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The voluntary recall affects specific lots of Amazon Basic Care Extra Strength Pain Relief acetaminophen, a medication commonly used to relieve pain and reduce fever. The recall was initiated on September 18 by Aurobindo Pharma USA Inc., the manufacturer, and was recently detailed in an FDA enforcement report. Although no adverse health events have been reported, you should check your bottles to see whether your medication is included in the recall.

Amazon Acetaminophen Recalled

According to the FDA's recall report, the Amazon Acetaminophen was recalled due to consumer complaints about discolored tablets. The 500-milligram extra-strength acetaminophen caplets were sold in bottles of 200, 500, and 1,000 tablets through Amazon.

Although the discoloration prompted the recall, a health hazard evaluation determined that the medication is still safe and effective, People reports. Additionally, no adverse health events have been reported in connection with the recalled products.
