Billie Eilish is in hot water with fans after hosting her brother’s wedding at the luxurious San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California—land that used to belong to Native Americans. After making a speech about “stolen land” at this year’s Grammy awards, critics have kept a close watch on the star, calling her out for “hypocrisy” at every chance they get, and this event was no different. Billie Eilish Officiates Her Brother's Wedding On Former Native American Land

Eilish's 29-year-old brother, Finneas O'Connell, married his longtime girlfriend, Claudia Sulewski, 30, last weekend at a star-studded event attended by the likes of Justin and Hailey Bieber, Nina Dobrev, Kristen Bell, and many others. The lavish event was held at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito.

Billie, who officiated the wedding, was quickly put on the spot for hosting the event on land that used to belong to Native Americans, specifically Chumash ancestral homeland.

Back in February, during her her acceptance speech for Song of the Year, Eilish encouraged people to protest against ICE, saying, "No one is illegal on stolen land."

"It's really hard to know what to say and what to do right now," she continued as the audience cheered. "I feel really hopeful in this room and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting. Our voices really do matter and the people matter and... f*** ICE is all I want to say, really."

Social Media Reactions

Across social media platforms, users couldn't help but call out the singer for "hypocrisy" and "virtue signaling," leaving comments like, "Hey Billie, no comment now about this lavish event taking place on stolen land?"

"When is she going to sell her mansion and give the money to the indigenous people?" one person asked, referencing her California home that sits on the "ancestral land" of the Native American Tongva tribe.

"Live by the sword die by the sword," another user wrote.

"I'm so tired of these hypocritical crybabies," another added.

"Rules for thee not for me," one comment reads.

"No one is stopping her from donating her property to a tribe," pointed out another.

"She is insufferable," a final user wrote. "Practice what you preach please."
