Donald Trump Rolls Out $1 Coin With His Face On It
Donald Trump is the first sitting president in a century to have his face on currency. The gold coin was released to celebrate America's 250th birthday and feature a portrait of Donald Trump on one side and an illustration of the presidential seal on the other. On the Trump side of the coin, the inscriptions read, "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "1776 - 2026." On the other, the simple description is "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR."
The U.S. Mint is promoting the coin as a collectible item, calling it a "once-in-a-generation anniversary design destined to become a standout addition to modern collections." As such, they are being sold for $61 for a roll of 25 coins.
Democratic lawmakers have brought up the legality of the operation, referring to a federal law that states, "Only the portrait of a deceased individual may appear on United States currency and securities."
When brought up to Republican lawmakers, they pointed out that there was a Calvin Coolidge coin put into production for the 150th anniversary, which they see as the go-ahead for putting Trump's face on currency.

Across social media platforms, users were quick to call out Trump for his endless grift attempts. "Trump is desperately trying to put his name on everything imaginable while breaking every campaign promise and selling out the country," one person wrote on Instagram. "He's so obsessed with himself."
