The reality star recently stripped down to her birthday suit to pose for images to promote her brand, Khy’s, first official line of shoes. Though it was a rather sultry and sensual move on her part, and it turned a lot of heads online, there were numerous social media users who weren’t into it. Some users left comments on various platforms about how they thought the pictures were ‘gross’ and that she was doing too much to try to sell her shoes. Kylie Jenner Strips Down To Only A Pair Of Heels For Her New Khy Campaign
The 29-year-old launched her fashion brand Khy in November 2023, quickly labeling it as a destination for sleek, trend-driven pieces that reflect her style. The brand initially built its identity around limited-edition drops and collaborations with other designers, creating things like leather and denim pieces, as well as dresses, swimwear, and casual wardrobe staples.
Now, the brand is expanding into another major fashion category - shoes. Khy recently launched its first-ever footwear collection, a collaboration with Italian designer Gia Borghini, who Kylie has stated she has "worn for years" on social media, that debuted on August 21st. To advertise the three styles of shoes and the launch, like many of her campaigns for the brand, the mom of two was front and center.
In order to let the strappy shoes do all the talking, she posed in absolutely nothing but the shoes, going down to her birthday suit and covering her body strategically. In the ad photos, her long, black hair is worn down and straightened, while she sports a face of glam makeup with dark eyeshadow.
Social Media Users Slam Kylie's Shoe Ads
The advertisements for her brand's first line of shoes certainly caught people's attention, as while the Kardashian-Jenners have done their fair share of provocative photoshoots, social media users were quick to express that they felt the Kylie Cosmetics founder went too far with regard to selling shoes.
On various social media platforms, users ended up slamming the shoe advertisements, expressing their distaste for the idea of stripping down.
"This is gross," commented a user on Reddit. "She doesn't look like this."
"Something about the vibes is really creepy too," responded a user.
"Dull colors and filters, bad wig, and artificial body. She just looks so dead inside, like she's possessed."
"How is this appealing?" a user asked, with another noting, "The shoes are ugly."
"This is just lazy and ridiculous," one user wrote. "If you need to [do this] to sell shoes, you've serious financial issues."
One user accused Kylie of "selling her body to advertise shoes," as another joked, "She's taking notes from Bianca."
