Owning an iPhone can be a great experience, until your storage starts to fill up, and you have to find ways to clear it out.

Running out of iPhone storage can cause a whole lot of issues, more commonly, a lagging device that doesn’t act the same due to it not having enough space. When iPhone users get that ‘low storage’ notification, they often find themselves scrambling to make room, oftentimes deleting content from their camera roll to get rid of larger files. However, there are other things you can try before doing this that don’t involve ditching your beloved photos. Read more about two of them below.

1. Remove Streaming Apps & Their Downloaded Files

Apps that involve some form of streaming, whether it be music or a series, often take up a lot more storage and memory on your iPhone than you may think. That's why, if you're looking to regain some storage space, you should consider deleting the apps you don't use as much, or at least undownload any downloaded content, like songs or episodes, within them.

"Downloading streaming media applications, including but not limited to Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, and podcast applications, is also a major cause of wasted space," explains tech pro Tomas Novosad. "Offline episodes, playlists, and videos stored in these applications are easily missed due to their location within each individual application vs. being located in the primary file management section."

2. Clear Cache Data

iPhones can do a whole lot, and they're capable of holding onto much more data than some people may think. If you've had an iPhone for a while, and use its built-in browser Safari, or several apps for years, there's a good chance you could clear your cache to free up some space.

"Cached app data from apps like Instagram, Facebook, or Safari stores enormous amounts of temporary data on your device that most users never think to clear," says tech expert Yelizaveta Kasian. "Go into Settings for apps like Safari and clear cached data manually."
