Tom Cruise Dances In The ‘Spirit Tunnel’ On The ‘Jennifer Hudson Show’
The Mission: Impossible icon appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show on September 29th, making his debut on the daytime talk show while promoting his new film Digger.
During his conversation with Jennifer Hudson, the actor opened up about the highly anticipated movie, in which he plays eccentric oil tycoon Digger Rockwell, as well as his experience working with the film’s cast and its memorable one-eyed cat, Maggie. He also reflected on his famous Risky Business dance scene, revealing that he still vividly remembers filming the sequence nearly four decades ago.
Tom then brought some Risky Business nostalgia to the show’s signature ‘Spirit Tunnel,’ where staff members line the hallway to dance and cheer for guests as they make their way to the stage. Dressed in black with sunglasses, the actor danced his way through the tunnel to the tune of the iconic song associated with his 1983 movie, recreating some of his character Joel Goodsen’s famous moves. Tom appeared to have so much fun that he reportedly stopped multiple times to dance with members of the crew before finally making his way to the stage, even admitting afterward that he wanted to keep dancing.
“He’s a legend everybody loves; we’ve got that Tom Cruise rock ‘n roll,” the staff sang to the tune of “Old Time Rock & Roll.”
Social Media Users Comment On Tom’s Dance Moves
Though many fans of the Top Gun star thought the video was wholesome and fun, other internet users were not so impressed. Viewers took to social media to poke fun at the actor’s enthusiastic moves, with some joking that his recreation looked a little different nearly four decades after the original scene.
One X user called the video a rare instance of “Tom Cruise cringe,” as another responded that he “can’t catch the beat to save his life.”
“First time he’s looked old and stiff,” a user commented.
“Love Tom but that clap AFTER the beat is sending me,” added another, teasing his rhythm.
One user responded that the video was “corny,” as another added, “cringiest thing on planet earth.”
Tom has yet to respond to the large number of mixed reviews his Spirit Tunnel appearance has received, but there’s no denying there are some internet users who can’t seem to stop themselves from poking fun at him.
