Charging your device often seems like a no-brainer action. Plug in your phone and you’re done, right? Actually, there are right and wrong ways to charge your phone and how you charge it matters when it comes to the longevity of your device. Before your plug in your charger and doze off to sleep, leaving it charging for hours (which is a no-no, by the way), keep in mind that this is the worst charging mistake, according to tech experts — it ruins iPhones.

Using Your iPhone While Charging

One of the biggest mistakes is definitely charging your phone for hours on end. But don’t neglect this big issue: the biggest mistake is using the iPhones while charging, according to Jonathan Tian, co-founder of Mobitrix, a US-based smartphone solution provider for data transfer and iOS system errors, etc. “Many users don’t want to leave the phone for even a single moment like an insect eats mango living inside it,” Tian says. “So, they use the phones to charge them. It is very harmful to both phones and health.”

The bottom line is that each phone has its lifetime with sure sustainability and power and a phone can’t stand all hits and extra pressure put on it, according to Tian. “When the phone is charged, electron transmission occurs in the phone, which produces a lot of heat,” Tian says. “That heat should be driven away. But when you use it instead, it makes more heat than before. Excess heat causes extra damage to the system, ram, and battery.”

The battery has the possibility of being damaged faster than the average lifetime, as heat hangs the system and makes the phone slow, Tian notes. “Gradually, the phone loses its strength inside, and the lifetime decreases,” Tian says. “Either use the phone or give it time to be charged. We must give iPhones time to drive away from the heat and control temperature. There is a chance, too, of blasting the battery if extra heat is produced.”
