3 Common Apps That Are Slowing Down Your iPhone–#2 Is Pre-Installed!

Sometimes your iPhone is as slow or as fast as the apps you use most often. You may not be aware of how much of an effect apps can have on your phone experience, but this is something that you become instantly aware of the day they begin to slow your phone down to a crawl.

If you’re struggling to keep your phone up to speed, it may be time to turn your attention to the apps on your device. These three common apps could be slowing down your iPhone — and number two is even a pre-installed app, believe it or not.

Apps With Video

It’s not JUST video that runs down your phone’s battery, it’s resource-intensive apps in general. But many of these types of apps, including Facebook and Instagram, include video components that auto-play every time you run the app. As a result of this, your phone can stall while these apps are in use or on your device. One way you can address this issue without deleting these apps is by setting your video quality to a lower quality that saves data. Head to Facebook > settings & Privacy > settings > preferences > media and change these video settings.

Apple Maps

It comes pre-installed on your device and is usually one of the most helpful apps around. Apple Maps gets you from Point A to Point B and relies on your location to do so. But that location reliance also opens you up to losing battery power more swiftly than when it’s not up and running. Make sure you have enough battery power on your device to carry you through when you are planning on using Apple Maps as you drive or travel by foot. If not, pack a charger to make sure you can power up when you arrive at your destination.

Streaming Apps

If your app can stream full movies and television shows, it’s safe to assume it is a worker bee of an app, which also means it will run your battery into the ground. No one is suggesting you delete Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, or other streaming apps you love. But making sure you have a charging cable handy is a really good idea, as is not running more than one of these apps at the same time.
