Chrissy Metz Reveals She Started Using A GLP-1 To Continue Her Weight Loss Journey

These days, with the rise in GLP-1 weight loss medications, there are a lot of stars who are partaking, with a handful of them admitting to using one to help them shed excess weight. Now, the Hunting Wives performer is one of them.

Chrissy opened up to People this week about her decision to try a medication after being "skeptical" about them for years, as she worked hard to lose a reported 100 pounds on her own through working with a trainer and eating well. She's been open about working toward better health for years, with her weight loss journey beginning years before she decided to try a medication. In interviews, she revealed that in 2010, she experienced a panic attack on her 30th birthday that became a turning point in how she approached her health, and she began publicly discussing her transformation in 2025.

The children's book author spent months previously denying allegations that she had used Ozempic for her 100-pound weight loss. But she has since changed her perspective.

"It's been great!" she told People. "I've enjoyed the benefits that I didn't think that would come, because I was very skeptical... It's so nice not to be obsessing about what I'm going to have every minute, even as I'm still consuming the meal. I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn't eat this or that."

In her interview, Chrissy mentioned that entering perimenopause and having a family history of obesity made her take the plunge into using a medication.

"I'm not getting any younger," she added. "I'm in perimenopause, and there were obesity issues within my family and with my father, and I felt like I've tried so many modalities, whether it was diets or therapy, and none of it really worked for me."

Chrissy Says She Knows People Will Be 'Judgy' About Her Decision & Gives A Progress Report

Despite her sudden openness about sharing her GLP-1 news, the 45-year-old acknowledged that it would likely bring opinions from people online. Given that she has dealt with criticism surrounding her body and weight for much of her career, she has learned that there is no choice she can make that will satisfy everyone.

"Listen, when it comes to me, everybody is judgy," she told the above publication. "It doesn't matter what I do. Before, people were like, 'Why isn't she on a GLP-1?' and now they're going to know I'm on it and be like, 'Why is she on a GLP-1?'"

In addition to confessing her use of a GLP-1 and raving about its benefits, especially how it quiets "food noise," Chrissy also revealed that she is now one of the faces of Ro, the online health site that sells these medications. She's even begun posting more candid updates about how her body is changing. On Monday, she posted an Instagram story talking about how her arms are getting in better shape, stating, "You know, I love all my blips and blops and my flips and flops, but she's making progress on the strength training journey. She's making progress. We like progress. That's my progress report."

Through it all, she's tuning out any trolls on social media.

"It doesn't matter, because like I always say, they're not in my life," she said in her interview. "They're not in my doctor's notes. They're not in the hereditary issues my family has. My life is my life, and I have to do what's best for me."
