Justin Baldoni Shares Update On The 'It Ends With Us' Lawsuit & Blake Lively Drama In New Video With His Wife
If you've been keeping up with the entertainment industry over the last five years, then you know at least a little bit about the It Ends With Us lawsuit that occurred between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who starred as the film's lead roles. The Jane the Virgin actor also directed it and used his production company, Wayfarer, to produce it.
In 2024, the Gossip Girl star sued her director and others who worked on it, claiming there was harassment and retaliation. He denied her allegations and filed a countersuit against not only her but also her husband, Ryan Reynolds, her publicist, and more, accusing her of defamation and violating her contract.
After two years of back-and-forth moments in court, as well as a release of all sorts of reputation-damaging evidence, the suits were dismissed, and the situation was settled last month, with Justin being expected to pay $8M in legal fees, but no further action.
On Wednesday, July 8th, the actor and director addressed the legal battle in a video alongside his wife, Emily. They shared it on Instagram, marking one of the first times he's spoken about it publicly in two years. He said that "gratitude" towards followers, supporters, friends, and family who helped them through the difficult time "saved them," but that the experience didn't go without lasting trauma.
"[It] doesn't negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years," said Emily. "We've had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen? Let alone disguised as a fight for women. So much to unpack."

Justin Says He & His Family Are 'Healing' Following The Lawsuit
Though the 42-year-old actor seemed to be relieved that the legal battle between him and the Blake Brown founder was finally over, he shared that it was certainly an extremely "painful" experience, and that he felt he couldn't say anything in order to let things play out properly in court.
"We don't even know if this is the right thing to say," he adds. "We just know we need to share something. What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken into existence over the last couple of years. That created so much noise, and we didn't want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course."
Now that all is said and done, it looks like Justin and his wife are ready to move on, putting the situation behind them, even if there are more bumps along the way.
"We are healing," he noted. "If you've ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn't linear. It looks different every day. We have had to rethink for ourselves what is real and what matters. It's this. It's our family, it's our friends, it's our community, who have been there for us, it's our faith."
