Bad news for those still holding out hope that Michelle Obama will throw her hat in the ring and run for president in 2028, as her brother has just said it isn’t going to happen!

Rumors of the former first lady running for president aren’t new, with many people urging her to do so over the years. However, she has always shut them down, even suggesting that she doesn’t think the U.S. is “ready” for a female president. And her brother, Craig Robinson, has now echoed those sentiments in a brand new interview that we assume will leave a lot of people very disappointed. Keep reading for more info…

Michelle Obama's Brother Shuts Down Rumors Of Her Running For President

In an interview at Los Angeles International Airport on October 13th, Robinson disappointed those hoping to see his sister run for president, including fans who held 'Michelle 2028' signs at events last year.

"There's no way she'll do it," Robinson confessed, adding: "I can't see her doing it. And rightfully so."

He went on to say that the Becoming author and Barack Obama have already had their "time" in the White House, referring to the former president's two terms from January 20th, 2009, to January 20th, 2017. He suggested that it was now time to give others a chance.

He said: "I think if you've been there for your time, it's time for younger folks to get in there to give them a chance."

Michelle Obama Previously Said The Country Has Proven It Isn't 'Ready' For A Female President

That could be one reason why the IMO podcast host has no plans to run for president, but she has also said on several occasions that she and Barack are now getting to enjoy a very different chapter of their lives. The couple have been embracing a slower pace of life, especially now that their daughters, Malia and Sasha, have grown up and left the nest, with Michelle explaining last year that she finally feels "completely free."

And then there's the former first lady's belief that America isn't quite ready for a female president! The former FLOTUS spoke about the topic during a live chat with Tracee Ellis Ross at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on November 5th last year, saying America "ain't ready" for a woman in the White House, regardless of who it is!

The mom-of-two explained that the country had already shown it wasn't ready to elect a female president, pointing to Donald Trump's victory over Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, as well as his victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

"Well, as we saw in this past election, sadly, we ain't ready," she said. "That's why I'm like, 'Don't even look at me about running, 'cause you all are lying.' You're not ready for a woman. You are not. So don't waste my time."

She added at the time: "We got a lot of growing up to do, and there are still, sadly, a lot of men who do not feel like they can be led by a woman, and we saw it."
