If you’re the proud owner of an Apple Watch, congratulations! They’re awesome. You’re one lucky dude. But wait–having an expensive device on your wrist comes with some caveats.
Here are the things you should NEVER do while wearing yours, according to the experts:
Things You Should Never Do When Wearing An Apple Watch
Paint
"Even with rugged covers available to help protect your precious Apple Watch, you should never paint or work with strong chemicals like wood stain or bleach while wearing the watch," Chris Bryant, creative director of Empire Studios tells us.
"Even with the newer models that are waterproof, that is only activated when you manually switch it on," he explains. "You can very easily drip paint onto the watch, and even if you wipe it off right away, it can really get into the nooks and crannies and be a massive ordeal to clean out properly."
Let It Be A Social Distraction
"Don't futz with it when you're meeting with someone," Noah Dentzel, co-founder & CEO of Nomad tells us. "It's rude. Be discreet and present." Amen!
Shower
"One thing you should never do while wearing an Apple Watch is shower with it," David Payette, president of Payette Forward tells us. "While it's true the Apple Watch has a fantastic Water Lock feature, it's not designed for exposure to soaps, lotions, shampoo, or anything else you may use in the shower. Apple explicitly states on their website that these common shower products "can negatively affect water seals and acoustic membranes" of your Apple Watch. It's not worth the risk to shower with your Apple Watch, and if you do, there's a good chance you'll break it and need to have it repaired."
